CHILDREN OF BARRY COMMUNITY
The CBC mission committee goal is to provide hands-on participation or financial assistance for projects that benefit the children and the youth of the Barry Community. The current focus is on literacy opportunities for the children in this area.
Our community garden is a little different than most. Often when you hear the term, volunteers toil in the garden, and take home the produce. Our volunteers labor of love benefits others in the community, with weeding, watering, planting, and weekly donation trips to the local food pantry. Our member have also coordinated with local farmers, who have donated their excess fertilizer and crops to further the amazing goal of putting fresh food on the tables of local families in need.
COMMUNITY WORK DAYS
You may have seen our blue shirt volunteers recently at Tangletown!
Recently a group went to Flint, and volunteered for the day through Catholic Mission.
The Deacons serve the congregation of the church in many ways: congregational care visits to homes, providing guidance, assistance, and food at funerals and their luncheons, financial assistance, and the support of the Ministry Teams and care of our church family.
Blessed to be a blessing is what happens when you respond to God's call by going on a mission trip.
Since 1991, our church has been serving in South America. In 2015, a group of adults sponsored by our church went to San Jose, Costa Rica, where 35,000 people live in a squatter's camp built on a garbage dump. There is no electricity or running water. Our volunteers touched the lives of hundreds living here, by providing medical and dental work, a Bible school program for children, eye glass distribution, and a construction project in the slums. In return, the team members were changed by their experiences, and were blessed to be a blessing.
If you would like more information, or would like to join the team on their next trip, please contact Dr. Jim Spindler at firstname.lastname@example.org
In July 2015, our Student Ministry went to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and worked with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for a family in need. The local news showed our students hard at work!
We intend to return in 2016 to continue our mission work in that area. Please pray for us on our next trip.
